Cool Krakow
8 Mar 2006
Poland's cultural capital Krakow is becoming well known as a major cultural centre but it also offers a great choice of places to head to enjoy nights out.
Arriving in the centre of Krakow visitors are struck by the beauty of the Main Square and the historic Cloth Hall.
The city's castle, standing above the River Vistula, is also equally imposing and the old Jewish quarter of Kazimierz is a chilling and mysterious place to explore.
However, when night time comes the city's historic buildings come alive from below.
Krakow's best pubs and pubs can be found around the main square in the medieval cellars.
Clubs cater to all tastes from jazz bars, where the pace of music from the bands that are often old enough to be the student crowds' grandfathers can be amazing, to bars where the chill out vibe is high on the agenda.
Whether you are quietly sipping vodka or dancing the whole night through there is plenty on offer, including restaurants that cater for all budgets.
In the summer when the temperatures can be surprisingly high, the best way to recover after a hectic night out is just to take a seat at one of the cafes that line the square and enjoy a cool glass of Polish beer.
