Delta to resume NYTel Aviv flight

Delta Airlines, the world's second largest air carrier, has announced it is considering resuming its New York Tel Aviv service next year.
At a press conference Glen Hauenstein, vice president of Delta, told reporters he would be investigating the market viability of a service from 2007 using Boeing 777 wide-body jets.
Tourism growth in Israel has encouraged Delta to consider re-introducing its New York to Tel Aviv service, noting a rapid increase in recent years to two million visitors last year, with three million predicted by tourism minister Abraham Hirschson during 2006.
'We intend to make this work financially and then we will move on to [adding flights to and from] New York,' Reuters reported Mr Hauenstein as saying at the news conference.
'Delta is committed to Israel...There are opportunities to grow tourism in Israel and the United States.'
A service from Atlanta to Tel Aviv is already available, seeking to attract members of the large Jewish community and those from the South's Bible Belt.
New York flights were cancelled in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks after a sharp drop in the market made the service economically unviable.
