Scotland's tartan Trump card
2 May 2006
Billionaire Donald Trump was welcomed on his trip to Scotland by being named a Globalscot.
The US businessman was met off his plane by Scotland's first minister Jack McConnell and a bagpiper playing Highland Laddie.
Trump was in Scotland visiting his new £270m golf and leisure development in Aberdeenshire, as well as to use the opportunity to get a few rounds in himself.
He said: 'As an international businessman I've enjoyed success over the years and I like to think that part of my achievement can be attributed to my Scottish roots.
'Being immensely proud of my Scottish background and recognising that this is a country with world class strengths and opportunity.'
The Globalscot programme is used as a way to promote business and tourism in Scotland.
Tourism is of great importance to Scotland and golf tourism and the nation's 540 course alone are worth £300m a year to the Scottish economy.
