Cathay Pacific named world's best

Cathay Pacific was awarded last week with the OAG Airline of the Year Award for 2006.
At the award ceremony - described as the Oscars of the airline industry Cathay Pacific beat off competition from the world's best including British Airways, Continental Airlines, Emirates and Qantas to take the title.
The airline's chief executive Philip Chen said: 'As the airline of Hong Kong, we are honoured to be presented with this award and owe much to the can-do spirit of the Hong Kong people which drives everyone in Cathay Pacific to always do better.'
Cathay Pacific also won awards for best Asia-based airline and best transpacific airline.
Other awards given out by Alan Whicker went to South African Airways (best airline based in Africa), LAN Airlines (best in South America), British Airways (best in Western Europe) and CSA Czech Airlines (best in Central/Eastern Europe).
The world's best airport was named as Singapore Changi, winning the title ahead of Chicago O'Hare, Dubai International and Hong Kong International.
