Liv lives it up in Moscow

31 May 2006

Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler has been enjoying the sights of Moscow.

Surrounded by a team of bodyguards, the actress toured Red Square on a trip to promote a range of cosmetics.

Although Liv was on a working trip, she managed to get some free time for sightseeing and photographed sites including the colourful domes of Saint Basil's Cathedral and the 17th century Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin.

It was not the star's first trip to Russia, having previously headed to the country to film Onegin alongside Ralph Fiennes.

Red Square is the first stop for most travellers heading to Moscow with its iconic sights, besides the Kremlin and Saint Basil's Cathedral, including Lenin's Mausoleum and the grand 19th century GUM department store.

Beyond Red Square, attractions worth finding in the city include the Bolshoi Theatre, home to the Bolshoi ballet, the ornate designs of the Moscow's Metro station and the art nouveau architecture of the Old Arbat one of the city's most popular streets with tourists.
