St Kitts and Nevis popularity booms

The popularity of the two Caribbean islands of St Kitts and Nevis has grown strongly over the last year.
New figures from the Caribbean Development Bank show St Kitts and Nevis, one of the smallest nations in the world, enjoyed tourism growth of 10% in 2005, following 32.6% growth in the year before.
The islands' increasing popularity with visitors from Europe and the US has seen the number of flights there rise and a greater numbers of hotel rooms have been made available.
One of the main attractions of St Kitts and Nevis is the wide range of wildlife the small islands hold. The forests are home many tropical birds and monkeys that are believed to have been first introduced by pirates.
Meanwhile the coast offers sandy beaches and coral reefs, which are popular with divers
The towns on the islands show their history as a British and French colonies with their architecture especially as the capital Basseterre was rebuilt after fire in 1867 - and the now fully-restored Brimstone Hill Fortress earned St Kitts the title of Gibraltar of the Caribbean.
