Swim and a film
23 Jun 2006
Munich's Ungererbad Lido is doubling up this year as a cinema.
During the day visitors come to enjoy an outdoor dip and in the evening a film, while lying on their towels.
Films are shown throughout the summer, from June until August, although the draw for many heading to the lido is not what is on the big screen but the social occasion.
Stalls sell food, but many locals and visitors alike bring their own picnics and blankets to enjoy meeting people and seeing a movie in an unusual location the field beside the swimming pool.
The choice of films on offer covers all genres, from classics such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Terry Gilliam's Brazil, to the latest Hollywood offerings like Mission: Impossible III, Steven Spielberg's Munich and King Kong.
A series of family films will also be shown including Wallace and Gromit and The March of the Penguins.
