AA advice to cut through Independence Day queues
29 Jun 2006
With America preparing to travel home for Independence Day celebrations, American Airlines (AA) has issued advice to cut any delays.
The key advice to all travellers is to be prepared.
AA advises that people check beforehand exactly what they can take on as hand luggage and stick to the right size.
When heading through security, people should make sure all the necessary passports and other documents are to hand.
Travellers are reminded to get the airport early leaving two hours before an international flight and 90 minutes before a domestic flight if baggage is to be checked in.
The airline also advises those flying to make sure all valuables, such as cameras, jewellery, documents and medicines are kept hold of at all times.
Finally, an AA spokesman said: 'Leave the fireworks at home. Although fireworks are popular during Fourth of July celebrations, the FAA [federal aviation administration] strictly prohibits customers from carrying fireworks onboard aircraft either in checked baggage or as carry-on items.'
