Spain remains no.2 travel destination

Spain remains one of the world's most favourite travel destinations, according to new data.
The latest 'Research and Markets Travel and Tourism in Spain' report shows that the country remains the second place destination, behind France, in terms of tourist numbers. It is estimated that travel and tourism accounts for 12 per cent of the country's GDP, according to recent national statistics.
In particular, Spain is benefiting from an influx of visitors from other European countries, including Germany, France and the UK. New figures suggest that the country's economic is enjoying a growth of around eight per cent, with employment on the up and consumer confidence remaining high and attractive to tourists.
Traditionally seen as a beach and sun destination, Spain is being transformed into a location for those wanting to sample some of the local culture as well as enjoying local dishes and hospitality.
The ease of online booking has also helped Spain develop into a city break destination, with more tourists using long weekends to experience the nation.
