Harry Potter escapes aircraft hold

JK Rowling has been granted the right to take the latest instalment in her Harry Potter series onboard a transatlantic flight.
The children's author has posted a message on her website assuring fans that the unfinished manuscript is safe and sound after her flight back from a US charity book reading in New York to London last month.
Tight restrictions imposed on hand baggage since UK police foiled an attempt to blow up transatlantic flights in August were relaxed to allow the writer to take the novel onboard the plane with her rather than checking it into the hold.
The 41-year-old author claims that she pleaded with airport security to let her take the bundles of handwritten pages on the flight, as it is the only copy she has of the work on the book she had completed in the US.
The seventh and final episode in the series of books about the schoolboy wizard is the most eagerly awaited to date and speculation about what happens in it and the final fate of Harry Potter is rife.
