Jamaica targets Brits

Jamaica's tourism minister is targeting visitors from Britain and the Republic of Ireland to encourage them to take their holiday on the island.
Aloun N'dombet Assamba has paid a visit to the British Isles in order to promote Jamaica and in particular the Cricket World Cup which is being hosted by the nation next year, according to Breaking Travel News.
The number of people visiting Jamaica has risen healthily in 2006, with 30% more tourists from Britain and Ireland making the trip in August compared to the same period in 2005.
'The JTB has worked very hard this year with its PR, advertising and relationships,' said Ms Assamba.
The tourism minister went on to point out that Jamaica's future is looking bright as well.
'We have more hotels coming on line, within three years we will have 5,000 new rooms and there is over a billion dollars of investment in new developments,' she said.
'We are also negotiating several new air services opening up Jamaica to both South America and Africa.'
