Botswana benefits greatly from the tourism generated by natural woodlands in Ngamiland and Chobe.
That is according to the chair of the Pandamatenga Commercial Farmers Association (PCFA) who says that the two districts' locations make them very attractive to visitors, reports BOPA.
Jacob Van Der Westhuizen made the comments during a commemoration of both Ngamiland and Chobe, during the regional tree-planting day.
Mr Westhuizen is promoting tree planting, in a bid to raise awareness among the people of Botswana about the importance of trees, and to help conserve the country's forests.
The PCFA chairman said work has to be done to ensure the environment around Ngamiland and Chobe does not suffer as a result of human impact.
He specifically cited the clearance of land for settlements, arable farming and deforestation for the making of wood products.
This year's tree-planting day was the 21st to be held and was held under the slogan Tree Planting: Action for Combating Desertification.
