New York's luxury loos
28 Nov 2006
Travellers caught short during a city break in New York can now relieve themselves in luxury.
Times Square has been adorned with a luxury public toilet complex which will remain in place throughout the Christmas holiday, reports the New York Daily News.
Toilet paper giant Charmin put the loos in place and they were opened by US TV actress Doris Roberts, famous for her role in popular sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
People wishing to use the toilets are directed to a number 1540 Broadway, where they are taken by escalator to a waiting room.
Once there, they can take the time to sit and watch some Charmin advertisements on flat screen TVs, while sitting in front of a roaring fire.
Children can let out some of their energy by getting on the mini-dance floor, or they can relax with their parents on the plush white sofas.
After waiting for a bathroom to become free, visitors are escorted to the toilet, which is said to be fit for royalty.
'It was great. I've never been ushered to a rest room before,' said one visitor. 'I'd definitely use it again.'
