Passengers travelling on Austrian Airlines flights will now benefit from complimentary hot meals on short-haul economy flights.
Previously, passengers were provided with a hot snack, but as the airline seeks to enhance its reputation for providing a top quality service, entire meals will now be offered.
One of Austria's top chefs has been brought onboard to create the menu, with a number of traditional Austrian dishes being served.
Among them are the likes of Tafelspitz, a braised beef speciality, Schinkenflecker, pasta with ham, and Kaiserschmarrn, sweet, cooked pancake which is shredded and topped with icing sugar.
'We shall continue to improve the rating of our quality offensive,' said the airline's chief executive officer Alfred Oetsch.
'This began with our installation of the new lie-flat sleeper seats in long-haul Business Class, the Vienna coffee house service and the chefs on board, and continued with our free snack service in Economy Class and the playing of classical music as passengers board their flights.
'The reaction of passengers to our new Economy Class service has been excellent, and we shall be expanding it further still,' he added.
Hot meals will be offered on flights between 80 minutes and 150 minutes long, as well as longer flights.
