Whale tragedy attracts tourists

A gruesome sight has been luring tourists and locals to a spot in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo.
Hundreds of people have been making their way to the shallow waters of Lok Ukong to see the carcass of a large whale which washed up there on 17 December.
The 24-metre mammal was seen floating in the area with lacerations and blood clearly visible, reports Borneo News.
The whale's body was dragged from the water by the afternoon as local fishermen were concerned about water pollution.
It is believed that the animal may be the same one which was seen stranded in shallow waters in the same region just days earlier.
Local officials and residents grouped together and managed to rescue the animal that time, but clearly it ran into further difficulties.
The Borneo Fisheries Department said it was 'almost certain' that the two whales were the same and did not comment on what will be done with the carcass.
