Hubs put ads on trays

12 Jan 2007

Passengers passing through security checks at American airports could soon be hit with a new wave of advertising.

Airport officials in Los Angeles have been carrying out a trial of having adverts printed on the plastic tray into which passengers must put metal items when passing through the x-ray.

The trial proved successful and now the federal Transportation Security Administration says it wants the idea to go national.

The idea has received a mixed reaction, with some passengers concerned about being bombarded with adverts.

However, the hubs argue that the extra revenue will go a long way towards improving security.

"If they help pay for security, then they can bombard me all they want," passenger Lisa Guerrero told the Albuquerque Tribune.
