Hard Rock Hotel in Malaysia

31 Jan 2007

Malaysia is set to get its first Hard Rock Hotel towards the end of 2008.

That is according to Singapore-based HPL Hotels and Resorts, which released a statement about its latest Malaysian venture.

The 255-room hotel will be located in Penang and HPL believes that the island is the perfect location for the building.

Penang's Hard Rock Hotel will be only the third in Asia, following the opening of a resort in Bali in 1998 and Pettaya in 2001.

The new hotel is to be built on the site of the Casaurina Beach resort which closed in December 2006.

Hard Rock Hotels are springing up all across the world, with eight sites now in place. These include Bali, Biloxi, Chicago, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Orlando, Pettaya and Tampa.

The chain is set to grow further, with plans in place to open hotels in San Diego and New York during 2007.

Penang is home to popular tourist attractions, including Fort Cornwallis, Khoo Kongsi Clanhouse and the Jubilee Clock Tower.
