Heathrow Terminal 3 gets makeover

15 Feb 2007

Heathrow Terminal Three is to undergo a makeover to bring it up to date with the rest of the airport.

The UK's busiest hub is currently going through a number of changes, with the new Terminal Five nearing completion and Terminal Two soon set to be revamped.

Now the focus is turning to Terminal Three, with the hope of improving passenger experiences, reducing traffic congestion and improving security.

The new terminal building will include a four-lane drop off point, a new subway and kerbside check in technology.

In addition, BAA wants to make the whole terminal larger, allowing passengers to wait for their flights in less cramped conditions.

'This re-development of Terminal Three is an important step towards transforming Heathrow into a modern gateway for the UK,' said Tony Douglas from BAA Heathrow.

'The new forecourt will provide a lighter, more spacious environment for our passengers and airlines. The re-development will take place this year and we expect to have the terminal's improvements and forecourt ready by the end of 2007.'
