Hong Kong plans New Year bang

15 Feb 2007

Hong Kong is preparing for the Lunar New Year, more commonly known as Chinese New Year, and more details of the celebrations are emerging.

The Tourism Commission in Hong Kong has released details of the popular Symphony of Lights shows.

This year will see fireworks added to the fantastic displays, with music being played in sync with the visual shows.

Officials say that tourists and locals alike will gather at the harbour off the Avenue of Stars and the Museum of Art.

Many thousands of people are expected to turn up for the events, which take place on 20 February and 21 February.

The second day of the show will feature the music in English, while the first day's music will be in Putonghua.

Leading figures at the Tourism Commission say that visitors can get the best view of the displays at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai and the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.
