Chinese tourists taught foreign etiquette

Officials in China are providing people with guides to travelling abroad in a bid to improve their behaviour.
Travel agencies and the tourism department of Shanghai are launching the campaign, with brochures and lectures on foreign etiquette given to those planning a trip overseas, reports Xinhua.
Authorities in China have reportedly become increasingly embarrassed by the behaviour of Chinese tourists and the topic has been picked up by media outlets across the world.
Experts in the country have put the behaviour down to selfishness and a lack of awareness among the Chinese.
One piece of advice which has been issued by the Shanghai tourism department reads: 'Try to present the positive image of a Chinese citizen and put an end to uncouth behaviours.'
Education ministers have been focussing on the perceived problem, increasing lessons in manners and etiquette at schools.
Despite this, some experts believe that it could take several generations to rid Chinese tourists of their bad image.
