Controversial 'Anna Nicole Tour' in the Bahamas

1 Mar 2007

A number of holidaymakers in the Bahamas have been asking to be taken on a rather ghoulish sight-seeing tour.

Since the tragic death of former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith, taxi drivers in Nassau have reported a growing number of requests to be taken to places synonymous with the star.

Known as the Anna Nicole Tour, it includes a trip to the hospital in Nassau where Smith's son Daniel died in September.

Visitors then ask to see the Lake View cemetery which is where Daniel is buried and an unmarked grave lies which is likely to be where Smith is finally laid to rest.

The final stop is the seaside home where Smith lived with Howard Stern and is now home to him and the model's five-month-old daughter.

Although the tour may seem in very bad taste to many, taxi drivers on the idyllic island say that they are merely trying to make the best of a bad situation.

'It's sad that she died but we don't look at the negative,' Burcil Anderson, a taxi driver who carries out the tour if visitors request it, told Reuters

'There are persons in the taxi industry who are making money because people come here asking to go to the house, the cemetery and the hospital.'
