Vietnam is gearing up for a string of festivals to make sure that the Lunar New Year gets off to a great start.
The Year of the Pig is upon us and Vietnam traditionally hosts a number of events in the early days of the new year, with authorities promising that this will be the best yet, reports Thanh Nien News.
Nine regions have been chosen to organise huge events in the coming weeks and months and Vietnam's ministry of culture says that the focus will be firmly on the designated area during its moment in the limelight.
Additional transport will be provided to each host and local tour operators will be promoting the events.
Some of the festivals have already begun, with the Long Tong festival in Thai Nguyen getting into full swing.
Most of the events include singing, dancing, parades and a fantastic party atmosphere throughout.
Although each event is related in some way, every single one has an individual feel and unique take on the celebration of the new year.
