China's dragon is axed

A controversial structure in China has been axed midway through its construction.
A 21-kilomtre dragon, billed as the largest in the world, was to be built in Henan province at a cost of AU$370m (£152.5m).
However, the erection of the dragon had caused controversy as some people felt that it was inappropriate.
Now officials have become involved and construction of the dragon has been halted because those behind the project have not gained the proper permission to build it.
The development company behind the structure had planned to include viewing galleries and sell advertising space on the structure, which is positioned on the ridges of a mountain range.
Much of the dragon has already been completed and the firm behind it has revealed that it is considering a lawsuit.
The dragon was to be put in place to celebrate the 60th anniversary of communist rule.
