Wallaby escapes in airport
10 May 2007
Officials at Salt Lake City airport have confirmed that an escaped wallaby has been given a new home.
The animal managed to break free from its kennel during a flight exchange at the hub on 3 May.
Operations at the airport were not affected by the seven-month-old's escape but officials were alerted to the situation.
The wallaby was caught within a few minutes and put into a new kennel as the pervious one had broken.
'The safety of our passengers and live cargo is paramount to us and I'm sure they were trying to do the right thing and take care of everyone involved,' Sky West spokesperson Marissa Snow told the Salt Lake Tribune while speaking about airport staff.
'It is a good reminder for people who are transporting live cargo to check their kennels and make sure they're in operating order.'
The wallaby is now at his new home in the Black Hills, which is a popular tourist destination ad home to Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens and Trout Haven.
