Emirates upgrades in-flight experience

18 Jun 2007

Passengers flying with Emirates will soon see the benefits of a multimillion pound investment in onboard facilities.

The airline is to pump £24.7m into upgrading the in-flight experience for passengers with First Class, Business Class and Economy Class suites being upgraded.

First Class flyers will benefit from new lie-flat massage seats, while Business Class passengers will be given more personal space, Economy Class will get increased amounts of leg room and all classes will receive larger personal TVs.

Emirates sees the work as a major investment and is hopeful that passengers will appreciate the changes.

'To put the scale of our investment into perspective - in the next 18 months, we will spend about AED 180 million (£24.7m) just to install our enhanced First Class product onboard the brand new aircraft we are receiving [Boeing 777-300ER ULR and Boeing 777-200LR] - this figure does not include the enhancements in other classes of travel, or the retrofit programme.

'We are also close to announcing another multimillion dollar enhancement to our hugely-popular 'ice' in-flight entertainment system.'
