My other plane's a superjumbo

21 Jun 2007

An individual buyer has shown that he has a penchant for excess by placing an order for an Airbus A380.

The massive aircraft, dubbed the superjumbo, is 73 metres long and capable of carrying around 840 passengers.

Yet, it appears that someone somewhere wants the giant of the skies to be his personal jet.

It is not known who has made the order or where he lives but it is clear that whoever it is has big plans for the big plane.

Airbus has revealed that it will take up to a year to build the plane to the buyer's specifications but would reveal no more details than that.

'It will be for personal use for him and his entourage,' revealed Airbus sales director John Leahy to AFP.

'I can't tell you who it is but he's not from Europe or the United States.'

The identity of the buyer, who placed his order at the Paris Air Show, remains a mystery but some environmental campaigners have slammed the move.
