Tom Cruise 'clogs' to Amsterdam

29 Jun 2007

Fresh from holidaying in Spain and France, it was back to work for Tom Cruise, who travelled to Amsterdam yesterday to attend the European exhibitors confab Cinema Expo with his newly "rejuvenated" United Artists (UA) production company.

Hundreds of fans turned up to meet with Tom Cruise, presenting him with special pairs of commemorative wooden clogs, as he attended the expo for the first time to promote his new films Lions for Lambs and Valkyrie.

Lions for Lambs, Robert Redford's film about the war on terror, is the first film to be released by UA since the Cruise bought the floundering company with partner Paula Wagner. Valkyrie is a World War II thriller, to be directed by Brian Singer.

The Cinema Expo has become a major event in the film industry's hectic calendar and is one of many such cultural events held in the Dutch capital city of Amsterdam throughout the year.

The city is noted for its cultural and artistic heritage and features some of the world's finest museums, including the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt House Museum and the Van Gogh Museum, which is the largest repository of the artist's works in the world.
