According to the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) official statistics, the airport was visited by 1.8 million passengers during April, 47,298 of which flew with Aer Arann.
'We are delighted that Aer Arann is now bigger than Air France, SAS, BA, Cityjet, Lufthansa, Delta, Iberia and Continental at Dublin Airport we are now the third largest operator,' said Colin Lewis, head of sales and marketing for the Irish airline.
'This is a great achievement, when you consider that Dublin is the 17th busiest international airport in the world, and we compete in a market with some of the most aggressive carriers,' he continued.
Domestic air travel in Ireland has been a particular source of growth for the airline. According to the DAA, 52% of Aer Arann's domestic passengers were business travellers, opting to travel by sky instead of road.
