Mr Bean visits New York

23 Jul 2007

Decked out in customary tweed jacket and goofy smile, Rowan Atkinson, the comic behind Mr Bean, entertained fans along New York's 5th Avenue at the weekend, in promotion for his latest big screen outing, Mr Bean's Holiday, which is released in the US next month.

The film, which was a big success in Europe and Asia, sees the comic bumbler win a holiday to the town of Cannes, on the French Riviera.

There, he discovers the beauty of France, bicycling and true love. He even makes an unplanned appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, after accidentally separating a Russian film director from his son.

Since his first television appearance in 1988, Mr Bean has starred in his own series, a spin off cartoon and the 1997 film, Bean, in which he flies to the US city of Los Angeles where he is mistaken for a brilliant art scholar, and asked to give a presentation at the unveiling of a famous painting at an art gallery.
