Ireland's premier regional airline, Aer Arann, has picked out seven of the most magnificent sites tucked away on the west coast of Ireland, for visitors hoping to discover the real charm of the country.
Along the west coast's seven wonders, Galway Town is a small but busy town that features 'real' Irish pubs and some of the country's finest oysters. The Ring of Kerry, meanwhile, is a natural centre for golf, water sports, cycling and fishing. Its beaches have attracted tourists for hundreds of years, as have the remains of several Iron Age forts.
Yeats' Country in the north-west is the home of the poet W.B. Yeats, the spectacular green hills of which provided the inspiration for many of his finest works. To the south of Galway, the Cliffs of Moher rise 700 feet above the ocean, and stretch along the coast for many miles.
The Burren Region is a famous rock formation made of karstic limestone which has stood in County Clare since the Ice Age, while Connemara boasts some of the country's finest sand beaches. A short way out from the coast, the Aran Islands feature Iron Age ruins, a traditional thatched pub and some scenic bicycle rides through the mystical lands.
For those wishing to visit any such sites, the airline also announced recently that it will be increasing the number of flights between Galway and London Luton.
