Korean Air wins 'best economy class' award

Korean Air, South Korea's national flag carrier, has been named the airline with the world's Best Economy Class, at the 2007 World Airline Awards.

Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines were ranked in second and third place respectively, highlighting the strong economy class options available to passengers flying throughout Asia with the region's best airlines.

Korean Air was also ranked in the tip five in the Best Inflight Entertainment and Best First Class Catering categories, while the airline's First Class Lounge in Seoul Incheon was ranked as one of the top 10 best in the world.

'We are very honoured to be voted the Best Economy Class 2007 by millions of customers,' said Mr Jonghee Lee, president of Korean Air. 'It is very encouraging to know that our innovative and quality service was recognised by passengers all over the world.'

Based on a global survey of the airline industry by auditor Skytrax, the World Airline Awards are held up around the world as an accurate portrayal of customer satisfaction.
