BA celebrates 70 years of Bermuda flights

31 Aug 2007

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of its first flight to the Bahamas, in the North Atlantic Ocean, airline British Airways is launching a new offer for passengers making Club World bookings.

Customers who purchase a flight before 25 September, for departure between 13 September 2007 and 31 March 2008, will only need to pay the celebratory price of £1,937, marking the year in which the first flight was made and representing a saving worth hundreds of pounds.

On its first flight to the island in 1937, British Airways had only two passengers on board. Today it carries over more than 200 people every day.

It takes approximately 6.5 hours to reach the British overseas territory, which is located off the east coast of the US, and passengers will be greeted by a beautiful sub-tropical climate, exquisite pink sand beaches and azure blue waters.

Actually an archipelago of 138 islands, known through history as the "Isle of Devils", Bermuda has a thriving tourist trade and is decked out with top class facilities such as hotels and spas.
