Beer lovers prepare for Oktoberfest
5 Sep 2007
Alcohol aficionados all over Europe and the world will be busy warming up their beer hand as they prepare to head to Munich this month for the Oktoberfest.
The festival kicks off on 22 September with an official opening ceremony taking place in the Schottenhamel tent.
At midday the lord mayor of Munich will be given the honour of tapping the first keg of Oktoberfest beer a gesture which signals that copious drinking can commence.
There will be no fewer than 14 tents for visitors to choose from as they make their way around the festival, including one to host a crossbow competition and another that will feature live music every evening.
The Oktoberfest is accessible by public transport and accommodation is available in hotels in Munich or the city's two camping grounds.
The festival runs until 7 October.
