Oneworld global network expands

26 Sep 2007

Airline alliance oneworld, which includes British Airways, Iberia and others, has announced a number of expansions to its global route network, with four new destinations, including one new country.

Nepal is the nation that will see more accessibility, with Dragonair launching services between Hong Kong and Kathmandu from 2 December.

Another new destination is Shanghai's Hongqiao airport – the second hub in the city served by oneworld – which will receive daily Japan Airlines flights taking off from the carrier's Tokyo Haneda base from 29 September.

Genoa in Italy will see new services from two airlines: Iberia, which will operate daily flights from Madrid from 28 October, and British Airways, which will commence its daily Gatwick service on 4 April.

American Eagle, the regional sister of American Airlines, will be responsible for the final change when it brings the New Mexico city of Santa Fe onto the oneworld map.

Flights to and from Dallas Fort Worth will begin on December 13th and a connection to Los Angeles will open the following day.
