While they may be often associated with a relaxed pace of life, Jamaica's inhabitants and visitors will be stepping up a gear in December for the Reggae Marathon.
Held in the seaside town of Negril, competitors can take part in either a regular or half-marathon that takes them along some of the island's most picturesque coastline.
Both events start at the Long Bay Beach Park along Negril's seven-mile white sand beach.
Competitors will run through the town then head north towards another village called Green Island.
The winner of the male category of the race will win a Bob Marley trophy, while the female victor will receive a Rita Marley trophy. All finishers will receive a Reggae Marathon medal.
Negril's beach is the most famous in Jamaica and the island is well known for its marine parks, which have been established to keep reefs alive with tropical fish and coral.
