Celebrate the culture of Romania

3 Oct 2007

People on a winter break in Romania in December will have the opportunity to experience the wealth of the country's cultural output.

In December the Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest will host the Winter Gift Festival.

This event will showcase the work of up to 150 local artists and present visitors with an opportunity to pick up some unique Christmas presents.

Among the objects for sale will be traditional wood and pottery items along with hand-crafted jewellery and decorative rugs.

The Romanian Peasant Museum was set up in 1990 and features examples of the country's culture and traditions dating back to 1875.

Bucharest has been home to a number of museums over the last century which have played host to almost 90,000 exhibits evoking the spirit of Romania.

The city is located in the south-east of the country and lies on the banks of the Dambovita River.
