Who's the best Santa?
3 Oct 2007
People on holidays in Switzerland in December will have the chance to see one of the most unusual spectacles the Christmas period has to offer - the Santa Claus Championships.
Every year since 2001 Samnaun in Switzerland has hosted this event, which sees teams of Santas compete in a number of different categories for a cash prize.
From chimney climbing and delivering gifts by donkey to gingerbread decoration, every aspect of Santa's trade will be tested in this competition.
While the overriding theme of the contest is lighthearted and fun, it can often get competitive as the participating teams struggle to get their gloved hands on the 3,200 (£2,200) prize money.
As the Santas exert themselves however, there is a range of entertainment options to keep visitors happy, including skiing facilities and parties.
Samnaun is situated in the west of Switzerland, close to the country's border with Austria.
