Southern African nations to open border crossing

A border crossing facilitating travel between Botswana, South Africa and Namibia will be opened this week.
Botswana's president Festus Mogae will host Namibia's leader Hifikepunye Pohamba and president of South Africa Thabo Mbeki this week to open the Mata tourist access facility at Matamata.
The post will be located within the Kgalagadi trans-frontier wildlife park, at a point where the borders of all three countries meet.
It is set to offer travellers much easier access between the three nations, AFP News reports.
Botswana government spokesman Tiro Kganela said: 'Mata will enable tourists to travel between the three countries via shorter routes and through efficient and convenient access/border control facilities.'
The Kgalagadi trans-frontier park was opened seven years ago and incorporates Botswana's Gemsbok national park and the Kalahari Gemsbok park in South Africa.
