Eastern Airways announces inaugural French route

18 Oct 2007

UK regional airline Eastern Airways has announced its first ever scheduled route to France, set to launch from Southampton airport on 15 November.

The carrier will commence services from the south coast hub to Angers Loire airport, in the Loire Valley region of France.

Three flights a week will be offered initially and Eastern Airways said that passengers will be able to check in just 30 minutes before their flight, thanks to its fast track security channel at Southampton.

Holidaymakers are expected to make use of the route, as are people who own property around the Loire Valley and corporate travellers.

Eastern Airways' chief operating officer Chris Holliday said: 'This announcement is a key milestone in our history as we further expand services into Europe with our first ever scheduled flights to France.

'This Southampton service is great news for business and leisure travellers heading to the Loire Valley as it will help strengthen links between the two regions and customers will be able to experience our punctual, personalised, convenient service.'

The Loire Valley is part of France's third biggest wine-producing region.
