Disney to welcome US visitors

24 Oct 2007

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has agreed to work with the US government to offer a warmer welcome to people travelling to North America.

Using its wealth of creative resources, the company will design a film and a number of still images that will express America's positive aspects and generate a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.

The film and pictures will be displayed at a number of international points of entry, embassies and other venues in the country.

Tourism associations welcomed the initiative, with Jonathan Tisch, chairman of the Travel Business Roundtable, saying that it provides an opportunity to 'win hearts and minds' and will lead to increased visitation to the US.

Roger Dow, president of the Travel Industry Association of America, said: 'Through the film and images that Disney has donated, visitors will receive a first impression of our country's diversity and beauty and get a clear message that we want them to visit.'

The first venues to feature the images will be Washington Dulles international airport and Bush intercontinental airport in Houston, Texas.
