Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam saw 2.1m foreign visitors in the first ten months of the year, according to new figures.
This is a year-on-year increase of 15%, according to statistics from the country's municipal tourism department.
October continued the summer tradition of strong tourist interest this year, with around 240,000 people visiting Ho Chi Minh City in that month alone, the Mathaba news agency reports.
Commenting on the expanding travel industry in the city, Dr Pham Huu My of the Institute of Social Studies said that one of the strongest areas for potential growth is historical and cultural tourism.
He said that the artefacts of Vietnam's history are a valuable resource that can provide a sustainable platform for growth of the tourism market.
Ho Chi Minh City is located in the south of Vietnam, a country in south-east Asia that shares borders with Laos and China.
