The city of Tokyo, Japan, will soon host comic book and animation fans from all over the world for the International Anime Fair.

Held at the Tokyo Big Sight venue between 27 and 30 March this year, this event is the world's largest exhibition of anime, the popular form of Japanese animation.

The Anime Fair's extensive programme regularly attracts visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, with some 270 companies organising displays in 2007 and a record 107,713 visitors attending.

One of the features of the show is a trade fair that includes booths belonging to anime-related firms who put their latest products and creations on display.

There are also a number of events, including stage performances, movie showings and an awards ceremony in which outstanding works of anime are presented with accolades.

Tokyo is the capital of Japan and is the seat of the country's government and the Imperial Palace.

While Greater Tokyo is the most populous metropolitan area in the world, the region is also home to the Fuji-Hakone-Izu and Ogasawara national parks.
