Bmi has opened its new route from London Heathrow to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
The airline, which is the second largest at Heathrow, launched the daily non-stop service on 13 March, with a timetable organised to offer connections to regional services across the UK.
Bmi is currently pursuing a strategy to expand its mid-haul route network from the UK.
Its latest flight offering brings the total number of destinations it will serve from Heathrow this summer to 38.
Nigel Turner, chief executive officer of
bmi, described Tel Aviv as 'a key destination in the Middle East'.
He added: 'We identified Tel Aviv as having potential for greater competition and one that has an ideal fit with our mid haul expansion strategy from Heathrow.
'This has been borne out by levels of bookings exceeding our expectations and competitor airlines reducing their fares in anticipation of our entry into the market.'
