SAS launches new flight to Oslo

2 Apr 2008

A new summertime route has been launched from Bristol International Airport which is likely to see an increase in the number of people heading to Norway.

Until 23 October, Scandinavian Airlines Systems (SAS) will fly direct from the south-west travel hub to Oslo – already a popular destination with UK tourists.

Last year, the carrier introduced a twice-weekly summer service from Bristol to Stockholm, which it says has proven a major success.

Lars-Ove Filipson, general manager for the UK and Ireland at SAS, said: 'We are delighted to be growing the SAS offering at Bristol International Airport with the launch of the new service to Oslo.

'The Stockholm summer service performed very well last year and has been re-introduced for summer 2008 due to customer demand.'

He added that the new Oslo route will be a major benefit to travellers in the Bristol area, saying it will serve to 'open up Scandinavia to the south-west'.

Paul Kehoe, chief executive of Bristol International Airport, suggested that the new route also 'shows the potential of the south-west as a leisure destination for Scandinavians'.
