United fans chart course to Moscow

30 Apr 2008

Manchester United fans will be planning their flights and hotels in Moscow after their team secured a place in the final of the Champions League.

Red Devils supporters who followed their team to Barcelona last week may have been disappointed with the trip after Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty that would have given the Premier League side the lead in the tie and a vital away goal.

In the end, the star's penalty miss was irrelevant as United won the return leg 1-0 thanks to a cracking long-range goal from midfield veteran Paul Scholes.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side will now face either Chelsea or Liverpool in the final at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow.

This match will be a unique occasion – the first all-English final in the history of the Champions League.

Manchester United's opponents will be decided tonight at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea will play Liverpool.

The first leg of this tie ended 1-1, meaning that Chelsea have a slight advantage in the form of an away goal.
