Delta launches first NY-Edinburgh flight
1 May 2008
Delta Air Lines has launched the first ever direct flight between the cities of New York and Edinburgh.
The carrier opened the connection between New York JFK and the Scottish capital on 1 May, a development that was made possible by the EU-US open skies agreement.
Delta said that the new flight continues its success in offering access to Europe and claimed that it now offers more transatlantic destinations than any other carrier.
Glen Hauenstein, executive vice-president of network and revenue management for the airline, said: 'Delta's new flight connecting New York to Edinburgh continues our successful international expansion which includes 13 new international destinations this year.'
Delta passengers now have access to 37 transatlantic destinations.
The operator's New York to Edinburgh service offers 16 seats in business class and 158 economy spaces.
Business class benefits include a pillow and quilted duvet, stainless steel utensils and a menu designed by celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein.
