BA confirms first phase of T5 moves
9 May 2008
British Airways (BA) has announced that it will transfer services to and from eight long-haul destinations from Heathrow's Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 on 5 June.
The highest profile route to be moved will be BA's connection to New York JFK.
Abuja, Bangalore, Beijing, Cairo, Cape Town, Lagos and Phoenix are the other destinations that will soon be served from Terminal 5.
BA currently operates eight flights a day to New York, with the other seven locations served by a single daily connection.
Combined, the flights being moved comprise a quarter of the airline's network from Terminal 4.
Chief executive Willie Walsh said: 'We have taken this decision in the interests of customers, who remain our priority at all times.
'Terminal 5 is now working well, and we are pleased we can confirm our plan to move in some additional flights on 5 June.'
