Virgin Atlantic has announced that the first five months of its new terminal at London Heathrow have been a success.
The terminal saw a 4% increase in long-haul passengers in April and a 10% rise in 'upper class' sales.
Some 83% of passengers surveyed by
Virgin Atlantic rated their experience of Terminal 3 as excellent or good, while 98% gave the same assessment to the airline's upper class wing.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive of the airline, described its investment in the terminal as 'money well spent' and took the opportunity for a dig at
British Airways, following the carrier's problems at Terminal 5.
'Passengers are voting with their feet and switching to us in their droves. These results are in stark contrast to the shambles from a certain other airline,' he said.
'We're sure that the speed and efficiency of
Virgin Atlantic's new terminal is restoring the public's faith in travelling from this vitally important UK hub.'
Some 90,000 people are estimated to have travelled through
Virgin Atlantic's new wing at Heathrow since it opened in November last year.
