The black cab that provides such a familiar sight for people in London could soon be appearing in destinations across the world.
Manganese Bronze Holdings, the company that manufactures the majority of London's black cabs, said that it had received orders to make matching taxis for a number of worldwide locations.
The firm, which is based in Coventry but has an operation in China, said some 2,500 orders had been received to supply regions including the Middle East, eastern Europe, South America and Africa.
While exact locations where the black cabs will be used was not announced, it is thought that Mexico City could be one of the target locations.
Some 100,000 unlicensed taxis were in operation in the Mexican capital last year, meaning that visitors to the city will be provided with a more reliable and safe way of getting around if the black cabs come into service.
Mexico City is one of the world's largest cities by population, along with the likes of Tokyo, Seoul and New York City.
