BA to upgrade JFK terminal

British Airways has announced the launch of a $30m (£15.1m), 18-month project to upgrade its terminal facilities at New York JFK airport.
The project is set to get underway in June this year and will include three main areas, starting with a new premium check-in pavilion with a dedicated drop-off point for certain customers.
Enhanced and dedicated check-in areas will also be built for members of BA's Club World and Executive Club Silver schemes.
The final major change will be the renovation of terraces and first-class lounges to ensure that facilities are in line with those currently in operation at Heathrow Terminal 5.
BA claims that the redeveloped terminal will also have environmentally friendly characteristics, such as the optimum usage of natural daylight.
Robin Hayes, the airline's executive vice-president for the Americas, said: 'In a time of rapidly increasing and robust competition, British Airways will now raise the competitive bar far higher than any of its JFK competitors.
'No other airline at JFK will come close to the standard and quality of what we intend to offer our customers. The new enhancements will place British Airways in the most enviable position to provide the best possible premium ground experience at JFK international airport.'
